Audio and Language Settings
The Transcription page controls the microphone, spoken language, optional audio muting, and AI service.
Audio Recording Device
Use Audio recording device to choose the microphone VoxAction records from.
Choose System default input device if you want VoxAction to follow the current Windows default microphone. Choose a specific device if you use several microphones and want VoxAction to keep using one of them.
Input Level
The input level gauge shows live microphone activity for the selected device.
If the gauge does not move while you speak:
- check that the microphone is connected,
- check that it is not muted,
- select another input device,
- check Windows sound settings,
- check Windows microphone privacy permissions.
Input Language
The Input language setting tells the transcription service what language you are speaking.
Automatic detection works for many cases. Selecting a specific language can improve:
- short dictations,
- names and acronyms,
- accented speech,
- translation workflows,
- specialized vocabulary.
Mute Audio During Recording
Enable Mute audio during recording if speakers, calls, videos, or notifications are being picked up by your microphone.
When enabled, VoxAction temporarily mutes system audio while recording and restores the previous mute state after recording stops.
Audio Quality Tips
For better speech recognition and dictation accuracy:
- use a headset or dedicated microphone,
- reduce background noise,
- avoid music or other voices near the microphone,
- keep the microphone at a consistent distance,
- dictate in shorter sections,
- add important terms to the personal dictionary.
