General Settings

The General page controls startup, updates, tray visibility, and configuration reset.

Start with Windows

Enable Start with Windows if you want VoxAction to run automatically when you sign in.

This setting creates a per-user Windows startup entry for VoxAction. Disable it if you prefer to start VoxAction manually from the Start menu.

Automatically Check for Updates

Enable Automatically check for updates to let VoxAction periodically check for a newer version.

You can also right-click the system tray icon and select Check for updates for a manual update check. Installed builds update with an MSI package. Portable builds update with a ZIP package.

Show an Icon in the System Tray

Enable Show an icon in the system tray if you want quick access to:

  • On and Off,
  • Settings,
  • Help,
  • bug reporting,
  • update checks,
  • Exit.

If you hide the tray icon, VoxAction can keep running. Settings remain available from the Start menu.

Restore Default Settings

Use Restore all settings to their default values when configuration becomes confusing or you want to start over.

Default settings include:

  • automatic update checks enabled,
  • system tray icon enabled,
  • Whisper-compatible API selected,
  • endpoint set to https://api.openai.com/v1/ ,
  • model set to whisper-1 ,
  • dictionary enabled,
  • push-to-talk enabled,
  • dictation hotkey set to Alt+1 ,
  • translation hotkey set to Alt+2 ,
  • AI assisted editing hotkey set to Alt+3 .

After resetting, click Apply or OK, then reconfigure your AI service credentials.
