Searching for Chat Rooms or Messages

In a bustling chat environment like BrainSoup, finding the exact piece of information you need quickly is crucial. Whether it's sifting through chat rooms or pinpointing specific messages, the search function is designed to streamline this process, ensuring that you can access their desired content with ease and efficiency.

Location and Usage

The search box is positioned at the top left corner of the window, within the left pane, above the list of chat rooms. To initiate a search, you simply need to enter keywords related to their query into the search box. These keywords should be separated by spaces, with the most important word leading the query for optimal results. For a more refined search experience, certain words can be excluded from the search results by prefixing them with a '-' sign.

How It Works

Upon entering the search terms and initiating the search, results are promptly displayed in a dropdown list directly beneath the search field. This list not only shows the chat rooms and messages that match the search criteria but also provides excerpts of messages where the keywords are highlighted. This highlighting feature allows you to quickly identify the relevance of each result to their search query, making it easier to find the exact information they are looking for. Once clicked, the search results will navigate you directly to the relevant chat room or message.
